Negotiations are underway between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United over a potential transfer for Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus, in what could become one of the standout deals of the summer window.
The 24-year-old Kudus has a release clause structured by tier: £85 million for Premier League clubs, £80 million for teams in Europe, and £120 million for Saudi Arabian sides.
That clause is active between July 1 and July 10, setting the stage for a tense and time-sensitive negotiation process.
Despite the high fee, Spurs remain strongly interested, with new head coach Thomas Frank eager to reshape his attacking options.
Tottenham had previously tracked Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo, and Eberechi Eze, but Mbeumo reportedly prefers a move to Manchester United, while Eze is said to be edging closer to a transfer to Arsenal.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the developments, noting: “Talks between Mohammed Kudus and Tottenham on project/personal terms are underway, positive approach.
“Kudus is open to joining Spurs while talks continue with both player and West Ham sides. There are two more clubs still involved in the race.”
A move to Spurs would make Kudus the first player to switch directly from West Ham since Scott Parker in 2011.
The Ghana international was signed by West Ham for nearly £40 million from Ajax in 2023 and impressed in his debut Premier League season, scoring 14 goals across all competitions.
With West Ham reportedly needing to sell before making significant additions to their squad, Kudus’s departure could provide manager Graham Potter the financial flexibility to reinvest ahead of the new campaign.
