Mandanda Linked with Tottenham as Lloris Eyes Exit
2 May 2025 — Steve Mandanda could be set for a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly eyeing the Marseille goalkeeper as a potential replacement for compatriot Hugo Lloris.
Lloris, long rumoured to be leaving Spurs at the end of the season, may be heading for a new challenge, with several European clubs believed to be monitoring his situation. If he departs, Tottenham could turn to another French international to fill the void—Steve Mandanda.
Mandanda, 39, who was born in Kinshasa, DR Congo but has been capped numerous times by France, is reportedly attracting attention from a number of top European clubs as he prepares for life after Olympique de Marseille. According to sources close to the club, Atlético Madrid have expressed interest in the veteran shot-stopper, while Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach are considering him as a replacement for Marc-André ter Stegen, who has already agreed a move to Barcelona.
In Italy, both AC Milan and AS Roma have also been linked with Mandanda, who remains one of Ligue 1’s most experienced and respected goalkeepers. But the lure of the Premier League, and specifically Tottenham, is believed to be particularly strong for the Marseille captain.
Tottenham have tracked Mandanda in the past and could revive their interest should Lloris, who joined from Lyon in 2012, make a summer exit. With Premier League experience highly valued, Mandanda’s leadership, reflexes, and composure under pressure could make him an ideal candidate for Spurs.
After years of loyal service in France, Mandanda could now be facing a final major move in his career. The goalkeeper has been with Marseille for most of the past 16 years, amassing over 600 appearances for the club.
While no deal is yet confirmed, the coming weeks could prove decisive for both Mandanda and Tottenham as the summer transfer window nears.
