Tottenham linked with Benfica teenager Daniel Banjaqui
Daniel Banjaqui, the Portugal and Guinea-Bissau defender currently at Benfica, has been linked with a move to Tottenham in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old right-back has made six senior appearances for Benfica this season, featuring in Liga Portugal 2, the Portuguese top flight and the Europa League. He has started all three of Benfica B’s league matches, while also appearing twice for the first team in the league and once in Europe.
Banjaqui joined Benfica’s senior squad from Benfica B on 1 July 2026 after progressing through the club’s academy. He previously represented Benfica at under-17 level and was part of the Portugal side that won the Under-17 World Cup and European Under-17 Championship in 2025.
Born in Lisbon on 24 March 2008, Banjaqui is 1.84m tall and favours his right foot. His reported market value is €10m, while his current agreement with Benfica runs until 30 June 2031.
The reported link with Tottenham comes as Banjaqui begins his first season as part of Benfica’s senior group. His appearances have so far been shared between the club’s second team and first-team squad, with his Europa League outing providing his only senior appearance in that competition this campaign.
Banjaqui remains under contract at Benfica until 2031.
