Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to signing France international of DR Congo descent Christopher Nkunku after failing to snap up Eberechi Eze.
Nkunku, who joined Chelsea in summer 2023 has struggled to command a starting role at the club, particularly under manager Enzo Maresca.
The forward has been made available by Maresca, with Chelsea eager to offload the former RB Leipzig attacker before the end of the transfer window.
Chelsea have ruled out any loan exit as the club seek for a permanent acquisition for a player whose contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2029.
The 27-year-old, who is expected to depart Chelsea before the closure of the summer window has attracted significant interest, with Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan exploring moves for the forward.
Having missed out on Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, Tottenham have launched an urgent search for an alternative, with Nkunku popping up on the radar.
The Premier League club has turned their attention to Nkunku and are expected to submit an offer for the attacker.
Meanwhile, Nkunku is reportedly open to a return to Germany, with RB Leipzig keen to bring him back. However, no serious talks have yet taken place with the Bundesliga club, meaning Tottenham still have a shot at securing his signature.
Nkunku, who has 14 appearances for France, currently has a contract that runs until summer 2029.
Last season, Christopher Nkunku made 48 appearances for Chelsea, netting 15 goals and providing 5 assists. He was mainly used as an impact substitute, injecting energy into the side and helping secure crucial results.
