Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their search for a successor to Christian Eriksen, and Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate to fill the Dane’s shoes.
With Eriksen’s contract set to expire in 2020 and no extension in sight, a departure now appears inevitable. The Danish playmaker is widely expected to leave North London, prompting Spurs’ management to move quickly to identify a suitable replacement.
Among the various names under consideration, Ajax Amsterdam star Hakim Ziyech stands out as the club’s top priority. According to the sports outlet 90min, Tottenham view the Moroccan midfielder as the ideal profile to strengthen their attacking options and maintain creativity in the middle of the park.
Ziyech has been in excellent form this season, registering six goals and 15 assists in 21 matches across all competitions. His vision, technical quality, and ability to unlock defenses have made him one of Ajax’s most influential players and a key figure in their attacking play.
However, any move could prove complicated. The 26-year-old remains under contract with the Dutch giants until 2022, meaning Tottenham would likely need to submit a substantial offer to secure his services.
Still, with Eriksen’s departure looming, Spurs appear determined to make Ziyech their priority target as they plan for the future.
