By BBC Sport
Cameroonian international Clinton Njie has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur, signing a five-year contract with the Premier League club that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2020.
The 22-year-old winger, who had been heavily linked with Spurs in recent weeks, completes his move from French side Olympique Lyonnais in a deal worth €14 million, with an additional €3 million in potential bonuses. Lyon confirmed the financial terms in a statement released on their official website.
Njie, known for his explosive pace and direct style of play, emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most promising young talents during his time at Lyon. His performances attracted interest from several European clubs, but Tottenham were quick to secure his services as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Speaking after the deal was completed, Njie expressed his excitement and determination to succeed in the Premier League.
“I’m ready to give my best to help the club achieve all its goals,” he said.
Njie becomes the latest addition to a Spurs side aiming to build on last season’s fifth-place finish and push for a top-four spot. He will join a youthful squad already featuring fellow attacking talents such as Harry Kane, Nacer Chadli, and Christian Eriksen.
The Cameroonian has also made a strong impression on the international stage, scoring six goals in his first ten appearances for the Indomitable Lions. Tottenham fans will be hoping he can replicate that form in North London as he adjusts to the demands of English football.
