Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi hails Ghana star Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi has welcomed the return of Ghana international Mohammed Kudus to the starting lineup, saying his return come as a great news for the team.

The former Ajax and West Ham star made his first start for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night as the side succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool, bringing an end to their Cup campaign this term.

Kudus started and played for 75 minutes in his first start since January, with his outfit falling short to the Liverpool at the Anfield. It is an important step in his return to regular first-team football after a lengthy period on the sidelines.

Speaking about the 25-year-old’s return, De Zerbi highlighted Kudus’ versatility and the tactical options his presence provides for Tottenham.

“Kudus is more great news for us, I think, because he can play also number 10 and we can play with Savio, Koulos, Solanke and Marmoush,” De Zerbi said.

The Italian coach believes Kudus’ ability to operate in different attacking positions could give Tottenham greater flexibility, particularly with several other attacking options available to him.

Kudus’ return to the starting lineup will also be encouraging for Ghana, with the midfielder continuing his push to regain full fitness and consistency after his injury setback.

The former West Ham star will now be hoping to build on his latest appearance and establish himself as a regular starter as Tottenham’s campaign gathers pace.
