Tottenham agree personal terms with Cody Gakpo
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached a personal agreement with Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, bringing the Dutch international a step closer to a potential move to north London.
However, Spurs must still negotiate a transfer fee with Liverpool before the deal can be completed.
According to Voetbal International, Tottenham have settled terms with the 27-year-old, who remains under contract at Anfield until 2030. Liverpool are understood to value Gakpo at around €85 million, reflecting both his importance to the squad and the length of his remaining deal.
Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven three and a half years ago in a €42 million transfer. Last season, he made 52 appearances in all competitions, contributing nine goals and six assists.
His path to regular football may have become more difficult, however. Liverpool have added 23-year-old Víctor Munoz, while a proposed move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola would create further competition in the attacking positions.
Tottenham are seeking greater quality and flexibility in their forward line, and Gakpo’s ability to play as a winger or central striker makes him an appealing target. The next stage depends on whether Spurs can meet Liverpool’s financial demands.
