Tosin Adarabioyo has no regrets over Manchester City journey
Tosin Adarabioyo has reflected on his early years at Manchester City and insists he would not change the path his career has taken.
The defender came through City’s academy at a time when Pep Guardiola and his staff saw him as a genuine first-team prospect.
“I was very young at the time, and it’s true that I was one of the best young players at the club,” Adarabioyo said. “I went through all the youth levels – U18 and U23 – and I was closely followed by the first-team staff. I even trained with the professional team. I would have loved to establish myself in that team, but looking back, I have absolutely no regrets.”
Now 28, he believes his decision to leave for Fulham in 2020 was a turning point. “I needed playing time to progress, and joining Fulham really helped me grow and paved my way,” he explained.
Adarabioyo’s story underlines how tough it is for academy talents to break through at elite clubs, and how choosing regular minutes elsewhere can be the key to a successful long-term career.
