Tongo Doumbia Sentenced to 8 Months Suspended Sentence, Will Wear Electronic Bracelet
Tongo Doumbia, the 29-year-old midfielder for Toulouse FC, has been sentenced to eight months in prison for multiple traffic offenses. However, the Malian international will not serve time behind bars but will be required to wear an electronic bracelet, a decision handed down by the Toulouse Criminal Court on Wednesday.
In response to the ruling, Toulouse FC issued a statement acknowledging the sanction, although they emphasized that the matter was a private issue. “The TFC, although considering that this is a private matter, has taken note of the sanction pronounced yesterday by the Toulouse Criminal Court against its player Tongo Doumbia,” the club said. “At this time, the club is not in a position to specify the possible arrangements for this decision.”
As part of the club’s response, Toulouse also stated that Doumbia would dedicate 50 hours of his time this season to social, educational, and civic actions, either through the club’s Foundation or in collaboration with Road Safety, should they request his involvement. This initiative aligns with the club’s commitment to educational values and community engagement.
Doumbia, who has been a regular part of Toulouse’s midfield, now faces the challenge of balancing his professional career with the obligations stemming from this sentence. While the situation remains delicate, the midfielder will look to focus on his personal and social responsibilities going forward.
