Tom Saintfiet eyes historic win as Mali take on Ghana in 2026 World Cup Qualifier on Monday
Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet is targeting a historic victory as his side prepares to face Ghana in Monday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The Black Stars, currently third in Group I with 12 points, will host the Eagles at the Accra Sports Stadium in a pivotal Matchday 8 showdown.
Mali arrive in Ghana on the back of an impressive 3-0 triumph over Comoros, with Saintfiet confident his team can challenge the group leaders.
Speaking to the media following Mali’s arrival in Accra, the Belgian coach praised Ghana’s squad, led by Otto Addo, describing the Black Stars as “the best team in our group.”
Despite acknowledging Ghana’s four-point advantage, Saintfiet insisted his players are determined to defy expectations.
“Ghana is the best team in our group. They are 4 points ahead of us, but we are here to make history and win here,” he said.
“We will make everything possible to qualify for the World Cup,” he added.
The high-stakes clash is set to kick off at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
