Tolu Arokodare: Ajax linked with move for Wolves’ Nigerian striker

Ajax are exploring a move for Nigerian centre-forward Tolu Arokodare, who currently plays for Wolves, as the Eredivisie side assess striking options ahead of the new season.

The 25-year-old, under contract at Molineux until 30 June 2029, is being monitored by the Amsterdam club as they look to add a physically imposing focal point to their attack. Arokodare is valued at around €20m, a figure that would represent a significant outlay but one in line with his recent rise in profile.

Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk on 1 September 2025 for a fee of €26m after an impressive spell in the Jupiler Pro League, where he scored 27 goals and provided 10 assists across 68 appearances. He was the league’s top scorer in 2024-25 with 21 goals, underlining his status as one of the most productive forwards in Belgium before his move to England.

Since arriving in the Premier League, Arokodare has made 33 appearances, scoring three times and adding one assist, as Wolves battled unsuccessfully against relegation from the top flight in 2025-26. He also contributed in domestic cups, with goals in both the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Ajax’s interest comes at a time when Wolves face the financial and sporting implications of dropping into the Championship, potentially increasing the need to consider substantial bids for key players. However, with Arokodare tied to a long-term deal running to 2029, Wolves are under no immediate pressure to sell and are expected to demand a fee that reflects both his contract length and his recent scoring pedigree in Europe.
