Getafe manager Pepe Bordalás has confirmed the return of Togolese international Djené Dakonam ahead of their La Liga clash against UD Las Palmas on Saturday afternoon.
The centre-back, who missed Getafe’s previous outing due to fitness concerns, has now fully recovered and trained normally throughout the week.
Bordalás expressed confidence in the defender’s readiness during Friday’s press conference, providing a welcome boost to his backline.
“Fortunately, he’s recovered, he’s back to normal and is available for tomorrow,” Bordalás said. “It’s great news for the team to have him back, especially at this stage of the season.”
Djené’s presence will be vital for Getafe as they enter a critical phase in the league campaign. With 27 league appearances under his belt this season, the 32-year-old has been a mainstay in the Azulones’ defence.
His absence in the previous match, where he was only deemed 60% fit, was noticeable, but his return comes at a crucial time.
Currently sitting 11th in the table with 39 points, Getafe are firmly in mid-table but remain focused on finishing the season strongly.
The upcoming fixture at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez is more than just another league game — it is one that could shape the final standings and Getafe’s ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.
Final preparations took place on Friday morning at the club’s training ground, the Fernando Santos de la Parra Sports City.
The session was marked by a high level of intensity and tactical drills aimed at sharpening the team’s coordination.
With the full squad available, the coaching staff has been given the luxury of choosing from a complete roster.
Despite the confidence surrounding Djené’s return and a fit squad, Bordalás is not underestimating Saturday’s opponents.
Las Palmas are battling at the lower end of the table and remain a side fighting for survival. The Getafe boss acknowledged their determination and warned his players to be prepared for a fierce contest.
“The feeling is good, the team has worked well, but Las Palmas is playing for survival,” he said.
“They are a competitive team, strong in all areas, and deserve more points than they’ve earned. It will be a very, very difficult match.”
Las Palmas, known for their disciplined and structured style, are expected to pose a serious challenge despite their league position.
Getafe’s coach remains cautious but optimistic, noting the importance of focus and discipline in overcoming what he anticipates will be a demanding encounter.
As Getafe look to extend their stability in La Liga, the return of an experienced figure like Djené could prove decisive.
His leadership and defensive composure will be key as Bordalás’ men seek all three points in front of their home supporters.
Kick-off at the Coliseum is scheduled for 2:15 PM GMT on Saturday, with Getafe hoping to build momentum and secure a positive result in front of their fans.
