Togolese striker Kevin Denkey shines at FC Cincinnati after Belgian spell

Kevin Denkey is making an instant impact at FC Cincinnati, proving his goal-scoring prowess has not diminished since leaving Belgium.

The Togolese forward, who previously impressed at Cercle Brugge, has adapted quickly to life in the United States and is emerging as a key figure for his new club.

Denkey joined FC Cincinnati in January 2025 on a three-year contract, marking a significant step in his career.

Despite initial doubts about his move to Major League Soccer, the 24-year-old has silenced critics with his performances on the pitch.

His start, however, was far from ideal. During two pre-season friendly matches, Denkey failed to register a goal or assist, raising questions about his ability to adapt to the new environment.

But once the competitive fixtures began, the striker rediscovered his sharpness in front of goal.

Denkey has scored in each of his three official appearances for FC Cincinnati, reaffirming his reputation as a lethal finisher.

His performances in the CONCACAF Champions League have been particularly impressive, with two of his three goals coming in the tournament.

This places him just behind joint top scorers Angel Sepulveda and Pedro de La Vega, who have both netted three times.

His prolific form continues the momentum he built during the first half of the season with Cercle Brugge, where he notched 15 goals and seven assists in 28 appearances.

Denkey’s seamless transition to FC Cincinnati underlines his consistency and ability to thrive in different footballing environments.

With his confidence soaring and goals flowing, Denkey is quickly establishing himself as one of FC Cincinnati’s most valuable assets.

His early displays suggest he could be a crucial player in the club’s ambitions both domestically and on the continental stage.
