Togo: TIAFOOT 2020 is coming in July!
The organizers of TIAFOOT have officially announced the third edition of the Togo International Football Tournament. Scheduled for July 6th to 11th, 2020, this year’s tournament will focus primarily on under-19 players, marking a shift from previous editions. The event aims to spotlight young talent across the region, providing a platform for emerging footballers to showcase their skills.
For TIAFOOT 2020, Togolese international Floyd Ayité has been appointed as the official patron of the tournament, lending his support and experience to inspire the participating youth. A total of ten teams are expected to take part, promising competitive and entertaining matches throughout the week-long event. Registration for clubs interested in participating has already opened, with a dedicated online link provided for convenience.
The tournament builds on the legacy of the 2019 edition, which was won by the 2AFoot team. That edition had the backing of another Togolese international, Ihlas Bebou, highlighting the increasing involvement of professional players in supporting youth development initiatives. The continuity of TIAFOOT emphasizes its role as a key platform for nurturing young football talent in Togo and beyond.
TIAFOOT is organized by the Swallows Association of Lomé, an organization dedicated to youth development through sport. The association’s mission extends beyond football, promoting education, culture, and social development, ensuring that participants benefit from a holistic experience. By combining competitive sports with educational and cultural activities, the tournament seeks to create well-rounded young athletes prepared for challenges both on and off the pitch.
With the third edition set to take place this July, anticipation is building among clubs, fans, and scouts eager to witness the next generation of talent. TIAFOOT not only provides young players with valuable exposure but also strengthens Togo’s position as a hub for youth football development in West Africa. By fostering competitive spirit, teamwork, and discipline, the tournament continues to make a meaningful contribution to the growth of football in the region.
