Togo name Eintracht Frankfurt defender Lilian Brassier for Algeria clashes

Lilian Brassier has been included in Togo’s final squad for the decisive CAN 2027 qualifying double-header against Algeria on 14 and 17 November.

The Eintracht Frankfurt defender was confirmed in the squad on 3 November 2026, after agreeing to represent the Eperviers following a long-term approach from the Togolese Football Federation.

Brassier had already been selected by head coach Patrice Neveu for his 31-man preliminary squad. His inclusion in the final list means the 27-year-old is set to make his international debut during November’s fixtures.

The former Brest player will bring his Bundesliga experience and exposure to European football to a Togo defence preparing to face the attacking threat of the Fennecs. His decision to join the national team is also seen as an important boost for Togo’s sporting project and a signal to other dual-national players.

Togo regard Brassier’s arrival as a major defensive reinforcement, with his experience expected to add greater stability and authority to the back line.

The first meeting will take place in Algeria on 14 November. The return fixture is scheduled for 17 November at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, where Togo supporters are hoping to see the Cannes-born defender make a strong start in national colours.

Brassier’s presence will be one of the main attractions of the two matches as Togo attempt to secure a positive result against Algeria in their CAN 2027 qualifying campaign.
