Togo: FTF President Ameyi Gabriel Confirms Adam Fazazi as Coach

Adam Fazazi Appointed Coach of Togo’s Local Hawks for UEMOA Tournament

The rumors are now official. Adam Fazazi has been appointed head coach of Togo’s local national team (Eperviers A’), as confirmed by Gabriel Améyi, president of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF), on the federation’s official website.

The decision was made to allow current national team coach Tchanilé Tchakala to fully focus on the critical objective of qualifying Togo for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. After back-to-back wins over Uganda, Togo is back in contention but must still face Guinea and Ghana in decisive fixtures this November.

“Tchakala already has a difficult task, which is to qualify Togo for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations… We don’t want to take any risks and ask him to devote himself exclusively to this objective,” explained Gabriel Améyi.

As part of his new role, Fazazi will lead the Eperviers A’ in the UEMOA tournament scheduled to take place in Lomé from November 22 to 29.

A Coach with Proven Experience

Adam Fazazi is no stranger to Togolese football:

  • He previously coached Togo’s U20 national team, notably eliminating Morocco 4-2 in Rabat after a 0-2 home loss.

  • He served as assistant coach under Tchakala during the UEMOA and UFOA tournaments.

  • A graduate from Germany, Fazazi has led top-flight Togolese clubs like Anges de Notsè and ASKO de Kara.

  • Currently coach of Maranatha FC, his familiarity with local players is expected to benefit the squad.

His appointment brings clarity amid organizational concerns around the upcoming UEMOA competition and could offer a fresh opportunity to further develop Togo’s domestic football talent.
