In the absence of an official FIFA day match, a gala match was held in Lomé featuring the association of former Togo players in Europe against a team of local players. Despite limited media coverage, the stadium was half full for the event.
The team representing the association of former players in Europe included notable names like Boukari Saidou, Sonou Mawuli, Ametokodo Messan King, and Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor. The match started with a goal scored by Djima Oyawolé, who capitalized on a cross from Razak Boukari’s father.
However, the opposing team quickly responded, with Wadja Lantame and Kuma Isidore scoring goals to take the lead. Emmanuel Adebayor leveled the score at 2-2 before halftime. In the end, the team of former Togolese players in Europe emerged victorious with a 4-3 win.
The association plans to continue its series of friendly matches, with the next game scheduled to take place in Kpalimé, a town located 120 kilometers from Lomé.
