The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) is entering a decisive phase as it gears up for the election of its Executive Committee on February 13, 2016. The Normalization Committee, tasked with overseeing the process, has officially published the list of registered candidates, closing the application period on Sunday, January 24, 2016.
A total of four candidate lists were submitted to the Federation’s General Secretariat, reflecting the growing interest in steering Togolese football out of its prolonged period of inactivity. The lists include familiar names that have been circulating in recent weeks, such as Germain Wona, Olufadé Adékanmi, Gerson Dobou, and Col Guy Akpovi.
Yves Bété, Secretary General of the FTF, explained the next steps: “On December 17, 2015, we opened the application period for members of the FTF Executive Committee. By the time the deadline closed, we had registered four lists. The Normalization Committee will now examine these applications based on the criteria contained in the 2008 Statutes in order to finalize the lists.”
The election congress on February 13 will determine who will lead Togolese football and help revitalize the national game. Candidates are expected to present compelling programs that outline how they intend to restore the Federation’s structure, enhance grassroots development, and strengthen the national teams.
