Ousmane Lato Compaoré Departs AS Douanes Amid Contract Dispute
Burkinabe coach Ousmane Lato Compaoré has officially left AS Douanes and returned to Ouagadougou, following a dispute with the club’s management. His one-year renewable contract was not renewed, prompting his departure from the paramilitary-backed team. In the interim, assistant coach Albert Tritrikou will take charge of the squad for their upcoming match against Agaza in the fifth round of the Burkinabe national first division championship.
Compaoré, who took over from Gneni Sebabi early last season, guided AS Douanes to a second-place finish behind Ange FC in the league. He also oversaw the club’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign, where they defeated Horoya AC of Guinea (2–0 at home, 1–1 away) before being eliminated by Wadi Degla of Egypt (1–1 home, 0–2 away).
A FIFA-certified coach with an A License, Compaoré brings nearly 20 years of experience to his career. He previously coached at AS Maya, ASFB, EFO, RCK, and BPS, and also worked as a regional technical advisor for the Burkinabe Football Federation. In 2011, he made a move to Côte d’Ivoire to manage Issia Wazi.
His next destination remains uncertain, but with his résumé, he may not be out of work for long.
