Togo’s national team is seeing some interesting shifts in its coaching setup. Although Tchakala Tchanilé, a local coach, was appointed nearly two months ago to lead the Eperviers, the technical staff remains somewhat undefined.
At the first training session for the CAN 2015 qualifiers, a new face stood out—Dirk Staelens, a foreign coach who was seen closely consulting with Tchanilé. Reports say Staelens is a German fitness coach, previously involved with Genk in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, now assigned to help Togo’s team.
Additionally, there has been a change in the goalkeeping coach position. Espoir Assogba, a former Togolese international with a decade-long association with the team, was notably absent.
The Togolese Football Federation hasn’t made an official statement yet about these staffing updates, but more details are expected soon as the team prepares for their upcoming qualifiers.
