The Togolese Football Federation have officially appointed Frenchman, Patrice Neveu as their new coach, replacing Nibombé Daré.
With his wealth of experience, the Togolese FA is hopeful that the 70-year-old tactician can contribute significantly towards the growth of their game.
Togo have struggled to qualify for major tournaments in recent years, and with the appointment of the experienced coach, the Football Association will be hoping to reverse that trend and secure qualification in upcoming competitions.
“The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) is honoured to announce to all sports fans and supporters of the Togo Hawks that it has appointed Mr. Patrice Neveu as the new national coach, at the head of the National A Team.” a statement from the Togo FA reads.
Neveu’s extensive experience across African football played a decisive role in his selection. The 70-year-old has previously managed several national teams on the continent, including Gabon, Niger, Guinea, DR Congo and Mauritania, building a reputation as a seasoned and pragmatic coach.
According to the FTF, Neveu emerged as the preferred candidate after a rigorous evaluation process that involved assessing multiple profiles with strong backgrounds in top-level football. The federation stressed that competence, experience and strategic vision were the key criteria guiding its decision.
“This choice is the result of consultations involving several profiles with proven experience at the highest level,” the federation explained. “Throughout the process, technical expertise, tactical intelligence and a deep understanding of the African football landscape were central to our evaluation. Mr. Patrice Neveu stood out due to his rich career, his technical and tactical qualities, and his extensive knowledge of African football.”
Neveu is expected to arrive in Lomé in the coming days to complete contractual formalities and officially begin his tenure, with attention set to quickly shift to rebuilding and guiding the Hawks in upcoming international assignments.
