Etoile Filante du Togo, like other clubs, has expressed surprise and reservations about the resumption of the national 1st division football championship. In a letter addressed to the Togolese Football Federation (FTF), the club’s leaders demand specific prerequisites. These include a subsidy of 5,000,000 CFA francs from the FTF, the establishment of licenses, and a copy of the insurance policy taken out by the FTF for the organization of the championship.
To support their stance, Etoile Filante refers to the tragic incident they faced on November 26, 2011, when their bus overturned and caught fire, resulting in six deaths. This incident led the club to withdraw from the championship. The letter emphasizes the need for comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the players, staff, and officials participating in the championship. The response from the Togolese Football Federation is awaited.
