Tobias Knost: Bonner SC sign former SC Verl right-back on free transfer

Bonner SC have signed right-back Tobias Knost from SC Verl on a free transfer, with the 26-year-old completing a permanent move to the Regionalliga West side.

Knost joins after four years in the 3. Liga, where he accumulated 63 appearances, scoring twice and providing three assists. He arrives in Bonn with recent silverware, having been part of the SC Verl squad that won the Westphalia Cup in the 2025-26 season.

Born in Berlin and comfortable at 1.78m, the Kenyan-German defender is a right-footed specialist at right-back. His experience in Germanys third tier, together with his regional cup success, gives Bonner SC a defender with both league and knockout pedigree as they prepare for the new campaign in the Regionalliga West.

Knost moved to SC Verl in 2022 after leaving 1. FC Magdeburg, also on a free transfer. At Magdeburg he enjoyed the most successful spell of his career to date, winning the German third tier title and the Saxony-Anhalt Cup in the 2021-22 season.

A product of Hamburgs youth system, Knost progressed through the clubs age groups from U17 level to Hamburgs second team before stepping into senior professional football. He made his name in youth competition with consistent minutes in the U17 and U19 Bundesliga North/Northeast divisions before establishing himself in the 3. Liga.

Knost, whose market value is currently listed at 125,000, now embarks on the next stage of his career in Bonn after leaving SC Verl at the end of his contract.
