The 2019 edition of the Tic2f (International Tournament of Football Training Centers) for under-17s concluded last Saturday, with Nigeria’s Clique Sport claiming the title.
The Nigerian side triumphed in a thrilling final against Mali’s Mbarackou, winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regulation time. The bronze medal went to Ivory Coast’s FC San Pedro, who edged Etoile Mandé of Mali 1-0 to secure third place.
Individual accolades were also awarded. The Kalala Center of Djougou was named the “Revelation of the Tournament,” while its standout player, Sakibou Tadjoudine, earned the Best Player award for his performances throughout the competition.
The group stage had already offered intense competition:
Group A: Clique Sports topped the table with 10 points and a +5 goal difference, followed by Etoile du Mandé with 8 points (+5). Stars Makers finished third with 5 points (-1), Révélation placed fourth with 2 points (-3), and Alodo Sports ended in fifth with 1 point (-6).
Group B: M’Barakou led the group with 12 points (+5), ahead of FC San Pédro with 10 points (+4). Sunsel finished third with 8 points (+3), APJ fourth with 7 points, Kalala fifth with 4 points (-4), and AFSTD last with 1 point (-8).
The tournament highlighted the emerging talent from West Africa, with several young players demonstrating their potential to progress to higher levels of the game. Clique Sport’s victory underscores Nigeria’s strength in youth football development, while the standout performances from centers like Kalala and Etoile Mandé indicate a bright future for football in the region.
