Tiago Gomes: Cape Verde-Belgian goalkeeper joins Abdysh-Ata Kant on free transfer
Cape Verde-Belgian goalkeeper Tiago Gomes has joined Kyrgyzstan champions Abdysh-Ata Kant on a free transfer from Italian side Paterno. The 23-year-old has signed a deal running until 31 December 2026 as he begins a first spell in the Jogorku Liga.
Gomes, who stands at 1.94m and plays in goal with his right foot, moves after a short stint in Italy, having arrived at Paterno in August 2025, also as a free agent. His switch continues a career path that has taken him across several European countries before this latest move to Central Asia.
Born on 14 August 2002, Gomes holds both Cape Verdean and Belgian nationality and has spent much of his development in Belgian football. He previously featured for KAC Betekom and Union SG’s under-23 side, as well as Schaerbeek, before spells at Spanish club Villena and then Paterno.
At Abdysh-Ata Kant, Gomes will wear the number 13 shirt as he competes for a place in goal in both the domestic league and cup competitions. He is yet to make his debut in the Jogorku Liga this season, with no appearances or minutes recorded so far.
The move from Paterno to Abdysh-Ata Kant, completed on 25 July 2026, is a permanent free transfer that ties Gomes to the Kyrgyz club until the end of 2026.
