Throne Cup: RS Berkane cruise past Wydad Fes as OC Safi advance to last 16
Olympique Safi and RS Berkane both secured impressive victories on Saturday evening to book their places in the Round of 16 of the Moroccan Throne Cup.
At Al Massira Stadium, Olympique Safi produced a commanding performance against Olympique Dcheira in their Round of 32 clash.
The Safi-based side controlled large parts of the encounter and showed their attacking quality throughout the match, eventually cruising to a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Habsi opened the scoring for Olympique Safi after a bright start from the home side, giving his team an early advantage and putting pressure on Olympique Dcheira. Safi continued to dominate possession and create chances, with their attacking movement causing constant problems for the visitors’ defence.
Nkouma added the second goal to further strengthen Safi’s grip on the contest before Njari sealed the victory with the third goal, ensuring there would be no way back for Olympique Dcheira.
The victory sends Olympique Safi into the next round with confidence as the club continues its quest for a strong run in one of Morocco’s most prestigious domestic competitions.
In the second fixture of the evening, RS Berkane confirmed their superiority against second-division outfit Wydad Fes to also progress to the Round of 16.
Despite facing a determined Wydad Fes side, Renaissance Berkane used their experience and attacking power to take control of the game and eventually secure a deserved 3-1 victory.
The Berkane club played with intensity from the opening minutes and consistently threatened in the final third, overwhelming the visitors with quick attacking transitions and clinical finishing.
Wydad Fes managed to score once during the encounter, but it was not enough to stop the hosts from comfortably advancing to the next stage of the Throne Cup.
The latest results continue a strong period for RS Berkane, who have established themselves as one of the top clubs in Moroccan football in recent years through consistent domestic and continental performances.
Both Olympique Safi and RS Berkane will now await the draw for the Round of 16 as they continue their pursuit of Throne Cup glory.
