Three former coaches trigger transfer ban renewal for Zamalek

Zamalek faces renewed troubles as FIFA confirmed an ongoing transfer registration ban, just months ahead of the winter transfer window.

According to inside sources, three cases filed by ex-members of coach Jose Gomes’ backroom staff, assistant coach Andre Bikey, goalkeeper coach Luis Vicente, and fitness coach Joao Miguel, caused this latest sanction. The trio is owed $60,000, a number that’s now risen to $72,000 due to penalties on overdue payment.

The Zamalek board, already under heavy pressure following lost club land and a string of poor results, must now act fast. The board’s woes compound with a recent ruling ensuring player Mohamed Ashraf Rouka is due more than 5 million Egyptian pounds in unpaid dues. Rouka’s lawyer stressed, “We will not back down on this issue and will pursue further legal action, including another registration freeze, if Zamalek does not pay.”

Amid these off-field disputes, new technical staff appointments were made, with Portuguese duo Vitor Pereira and Costa Ribeiro joining to steady the ship.

As the Super Cup semi-final with Pyramids looms, Zamalek’s squad and fans are anxious, hoping the club can resolve its legal and financial hurdles in time to reinforce the team for a tough winter.
