Percy Tau on the radar of Egyptian clubs

South African international Percy Tau is reportedly attracting strong interest from three Egyptian Premier League clubs as he edges closer to a possible return to Egyptian football during the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old winger, who is currently available as a free agent, has emerged as a transfer target for Ceramica Cleopatra, Al Ittihad Alexandria and Cairo-based Modern Sport, with all three clubs keen to secure his services.

According to reports, the three Egyptian top-flight sides have expressed serious interest in the former Al Ahly attacker, with representatives already making contact with his camp to explore the possibility of a deal.

Tau’s availability without a transfer fee has reportedly increased competition for his signature, as the interested clubs seek to strengthen their attacking options with an experienced player who understands the demands of Egyptian football.

The South African forward is also understood to be receptive to the possibility of returning to Egypt, where he enjoyed some of the most successful years of his professional career.

During his spell with Al Ahly, Tau established himself as an influential figure in the club’s attack, contributing to several major successes on the domestic and continental fronts.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion attacker won the CAF Champions League twice with the Egyptian giants, alongside the CAF Super Cup and multiple Egyptian Premier League, Egypt Cup and Egyptian Super Cup titles.

His experience at the highest level of African club football makes him an attractive option for the three clubs, particularly as they look to strengthen their squads for the second half of the campaign.

A potential return to Egypt would also offer Tau an opportunity to revive his career in familiar surroundings, having previously enjoyed considerable success with Al Ahly.

With Ceramica Cleopatra, Al Ittihad Alexandria and Modern Sport all reportedly interested, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining the next destination of the experienced South African forward.
