Thomas Partey urges Villarreal teammates to take lessons from Atletico Madrid defeat
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has called on his Villarreal teammates to draw valuable lessons from their defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga over the weekend.
The former Arsenal man featured for the Yellow Submarine in their Matchday Four clash at the Wanda Metropolitano, where Villarreal squandered several chances before eventually falling short.
Reflecting on the game against his former club, Partey admitted the contest was tough but stressed the importance of turning setbacks into learning opportunities.
“I think it was a difficult game for us even though we created good chances to be able to be leading, but it is part of football. Sometimes you don’t take your chances and you concede from a goal that you play back — an error that shouldn’t happen but it is part of football. We have to learn from this and keep learning,” Partey told Sporty TV.
Partey, who remains the most experienced Champions League player in Villarreal’s current squad with 44 appearances, is set to return to London in midweek as the team prepares to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish outfit will be aiming for a win in that game
