Thomas Partey: Ghana midfielder linked with shock Al-Nassr move

Ghana international Thomas Partey, currently without a club after leaving Villarreal, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. The 33-year-old defensive midfielder, who is available as a free agent, is understood to be attracting interest as Al-Nassr look to add top-level European experience to their squad this summer.

Partey’s availability comes after his short spell at Villarreal, which began when he joined the Spanish side from Arsenal in August 2025. His market value is currently estimated at €2m, a figure that could make a deal straightforward for Al-Nassr, who would not need to pay a transfer fee to secure his services.

The midfielder has built an extensive resume in Europe’s top leagues, making 188 La Liga appearances and 130 Premier League appearances across his time with Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Arsenal. He also featured regularly in the UEFA Champions League, where he amassed 49 appearances.

Internationally, Partey remains an active figure for Ghana and featured at the 2026 World Cup, starting the majority of his side’s matches at the tournament. His continued involvement at that level is seen as evidence that he can still operate in a demanding environment despite his age.

Partey’s most notable club achievement came in Spain, where he was part of the Atletico Madrid squad that won La Liga in the 2020–21 season. With his contract at Villarreal having ended this summer and no new club yet announced, the midfielder is free to negotiate directly with Al-Nassr and other interested teams as he weighs up the next step in his career.
