Thierry Henry’s Future at New York Red Bulls Still Unclear
The future of Thierry Henry at the New York Red Bulls remains uncertain. Just a week ago, Gérard Houllier had seemingly closed the door on an extension for France’s all-time leading scorer, stating that the former Arsenal icon would not renew his contract with the MLS side beyond December 31, 2014.
However, the narrative shifted dramatically on Wednesday evening when Houllier, speaking on RMC, walked back his previous remarks. “For the moment, no decision has been made, one way or the other. Thierry has not decided to end his career,” he clarified, indicating that discussions are still ongoing.
At 37, Henry’s motivation may be tested by the club’s reported strategic shift toward a younger squad. Still, Houllier left room for hope: “If there is another strategy which involves starting with a different, younger squad because the team has aged a bit, I think Thierry could be part of that adventure.”
With no definitive answer yet, fans will have to wait to see whether Henry’s illustrious career continues in New York—or takes a new turn elsewhere.
