The truth behind CAF’s reduction of Rachraki’s penalty

Walid

A reliable source clarified to “Hesport” that the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has not convened yet to decide on the Moroccan Royal Football Federation’s request to reduce the suspension imposed on national team coach Walid Rachraki.

This request stems from the events following the match between “the Lions” and the Democratic Republic of Congo last Sunday in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.

The source, close to the matter, stated that the current speculation surrounding the aforementioned issue lacks any official confirmation regarding the reduction of Rachraki’s suspension.

The Appeals Committee has not met yet, adding, “However, there are positive signals about the possibility of a real reduction in the penalty, pending the official decision after the Appeals Committee meeting tonight or tomorrow.”

Yesterday, the Confederation of African Football officially announced sanctions against both national team coach Walid Rachraki and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, as well as the Congolese Football Federation, following the incidents in the match between the two countries in the second round of the Africa Cup.

The most notable among these sanctions is Walid Rachraki’s suspension for four matches, two of which are suspended.

Walid Rachraki led the Moroccan national team against Zambia yesterday from the stands, with his assistant, Rachid Ben Mahmoud, taking charge from the substitutes’ bench.

It’s worth noting that the suspension will also apply to the upcoming match against South Africa in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
