Egypt U20 head coach Osama Nabih is gearing up his side for a crucial quarter-final clash with Ghana after a narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania wrapped up their Group A campaign at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The result marked a strong response from the young Pharaohs following a heavy loss to Sierra Leone. Nabih praised his players for pushing through mental challenges, saying: “The Egyptian team has been under psychological pressure for the last six days, especially after losing to Sierra Leone by four.”
“Egypt’s players were able to overcome the pressure despite their young age and put in a good performance against Tanzania,” he added.
Nabih believes the team has grown stronger through the experience and now has its sights set firmly on a place at the Youth World Cup. “The team has gained a lot of experience from this tournament and is highly motivated to achieve the goal of qualifying for the Youth World Cup by overcoming Ghana in the quarter-finals.”
Tanzania coach Hamid Suleiman praised Egypt’s desire and thanked the hosts for a successful tournament.
