While the number of transfers decreased slightly compared to the previous year (-0.6%), the overall compensation increased by 29% (1.988 billion euros in 2012). Intermediaries (agents/managers) saw a 20% increase in compensation, reaching 128 million euros. The largest transfer flow occurred between Spanish and English clubs, with Spanish clubs receiving 172 million euros for 38 players, and English clubs receiving 107 million euros for 28 players from Spanish clubs.
