Teddy Okou’s move to Zamalek has collapsed, but not for the reasons many expected.
Contrary to claims from the Egyptian club, a source close to the Ivorian-born French winger told Kooora that it wasn’t Zamalek who pulled the plug. Instead, it was Okou and his agent who stepped away from the deal.
“Zamalek did not reject the signing of Teddy Ouko, as leaked by the Whites’ officials, but the truth is that the player and his agent were the ones who decided to back out of the deal,” the source revealed.
The twist came after Okou’s agent reportedly asked for additional payments, citing offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Zamalek declined the request.
He added, “Teddy Okou has not signed any contracts with Zamalek, as was reported, and the player will announce his next club within hours after the failure of the Zamalek negotiations.”
Before the fallout, Zamalek had reached an agreement with Swiss side FC Lucerne and ironed out several personal terms with the player.
Rumors of a failed medical were also denied.
