Morocco defender, Achraf Hakimi, says Paris Saint-Germain’s biggest improvement this season is their team spirit, after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The French Ligue 1 champions secured the win in the first leg on Tuesday night at the Emirates Stadium with Ousmane Dembélé scoring the only goal in the 4th minute.
“I believe the biggest change right now is that we’ve created a team, and all the players are running for each other. The coach tells us we are 11 attackers and defenders at the same time,” Hakimi told CBS Sports Golazo.
“When you see attackers like Dembele, Donyell Malen, Kvaratskhelia, and Ramos running back, it gives us the strength to run with them and play as one unit.”
He added, “We train every day on movement and creating space. We try to move to open up gaps – these are connections we have as players.”
In a separate interview, Hakimi also admitted he would like to meet his former side, Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
“If I had to play against Inter, it would be a special match for me because of the year I spent there,” Hakimi said. “I’m very happy about my time with the Nerazzurri. Inter will always have a place in my heart,” he told Sky Sport via FCInterNews.
PSG will head into the second leg in Paris next Wednesday with a slight advantage, knowing a clean sheet will book them a spot in the final.
