Tawfik Bentayeb: Augsburg eye move for Morocco striker from Union Touarga

Moroccan centre-forward Tawfik Bentayeb of Union Touarga is being linked with a move to Bundesliga side Augsburg as the German club explore attacking options for the new season.

Bentayeb, 24, has emerged as a target after a prolific spell in France’s Ligue 2, where he scored 28 goals in 57 appearances, earning top scorer honours in the 2025-26 campaign with 18 league goals. His current market valuation stands at around €8m, a figure likely to form the basis of any negotiations between Augsburg and the Botola Pro Inwi club.

The Casablanca-born forward, a left-footer who stands at 1.80m, returned to Union Touarga this summer following a loan at Troyes, having also spent the previous season on loan at Rodez. Those back-to-back spells in France have given him significant experience in European football, including three goals in four Coupe de France outings.

Union Touarga originally signed Bentayeb on a free transfer from AM Football in 2021 and have since seen his value rise sharply on the back of his scoring record in Ligue 2 and in Morocco’s top flight. He has also featured in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding continental experience to his profile.

Bentayeb is currently back on the books of Union Touarga after his most recent loan expired, and any move to Augsburg would require the Moroccan club to agree to a permanent deal for their leading attacking asset.
