The Moroccan Football Association (MFA) has appointed Tariq Sektioui as the head coach of Morocco’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Arab Championship, set to take place in Qatar at the end of the year.

Sektioui, who guided Morocco’s Olympic team to a bronze medal in Paris and led the national team to the semi-finals of the CHAN tournament, will be solely responsible for preparing the side for the regional competition, according to an MFA source.

“The Moroccan Football Association highly values Sektioui’s contributions across both club and national team assignments,” the source added.

Sektioui succeeds Hussein Ammouta, who recently departed Al Jazira in the UAE.

Ammouta led Morocco during the previous edition of the tournament in Qatar, where the team was eliminated in the second round by Algeria.

Sektioui is currently with the Moroccan squad competing in the 2024 CHAN tournament.
