Tariq Diab keeps possibility open for candidacy in Tunisian football league elections
Tariq Diab, former international footballer and current sports analyst for BeIN Sports, has revealed that he has yet to decide whether he will run for a position in the upcoming Tunisian Football League elections.
Speaking in an interview on “Recapspor” on Thursday, December 5, 2024, Diab noted that while he has not made a final decision, he is keeping all options open.
“I have not made any decision regarding my candidacy for the upcoming elections of the Tunisian Football League,” Diab stated.
“But everything is possible.”
Diab, a well-respected figure in Tunisian football, emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections in shaping the future of the sport in the country.
“I hope the elections will result in a governing body capable of addressing the challenges facing football in Tunisia,” he said.
“We have major issues related to several factors, the most important of which is infrastructure.”
Diab pointed to the visible disparity between the condition of Tunisian stadiums and those in neighboring Arab countries, stressing the need for significant improvements.
“When I watch our league matches, especially when compared to the stadiums of other Arab nations, it becomes clear that we have much work to do.”
The former star also expressed his concern over the broader challenges facing the Tunisian football system, acknowledging that these issues require a well-organized and effective administration to resolve.
As the election season draws closer, many in the Tunisian football community are eagerly waiting to see if Diab will throw his hat in the ring and potentially bring his expertise and vision to the league’s leadership.
