Tarek Soliman, former Al Ahly and current Arab Contractors goalkeeping coach, has commended Al Ahly’s management for a judicious decision in acquiring Mahmoud Zunfaly to fill in for the absence of Mohamed El-Shenawy, who sustained a shoulder injury while on national duty during the African Cup of Nations.
In an exclusive statement to “Al Watan Sport,” Soliman remarked, “Al Ahly’s signing of Mahmoud Zunfaly is a very wise decision to bolster the goalkeeping position.
He is an exceptionally talented goalkeeper, and I anticipate his excellent performance with the Red Devils.”
Soliman continued, “Zunfaly has a significant track record in the Egyptian league, having participated in around 120 matches in recent seasons with Talae El-Gaish, Ittihad Alexandria, and Al-Dakhleya.
He possesses outstanding height, standing over 190 centimeters, and a robust physique, all essential qualities for a goalkeeper joining a club of Ahly’s stature.”
The Arab Contractors’ goalkeeping coach noted that he had advocated for Mahmoud Zunfaly’s inclusion in Al Ahly’s squad three years ago, emphasizing that he has played in nearly 50 matches and is a talented goalkeeper deserving of trust with excellent potential, projecting a bright future for him in goalkeeping.

Regarding his nomination to become the goalkeeper coach in the national team under the new coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan, Tarek Soliman clarified, “I am delighted to work with the Arab Contractors’ team under a splendid coaching staff led by Mohamed Awad.
I have not received any calls from Hossam Hassan, his brother, or the Football Association regarding the position of goalkeeper coach in the new setup.”
