The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced Thursday evening the appointment of Tarek Sektioui as the coach of the Olympic national team, replacing the incumbent Esam Al-Sharai.
The federation, in a statement, framed the change as part of a new approach by the National Teams Committee, emphasizing coordination and communication among the technical staff of all national teams.
This transition comes just four months ahead of the commencement of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, where the Moroccan team under 23 years old is set to compete, having secured qualification under the guidance of Esam Al-Sharai in July of last year.
However, the decision to appoint Sektioui has stirred controversy among fans of the Moroccan club, Maghreb Fes.
Expressing their discontent on social media platforms, supporters voiced their frustration over the federation’s choice of a coach closely associated with their club during a critical phase of the Moroccan Professional League.
