Former Egyptian football star Tarek El-Said has shared a heartfelt warning to striker Mostafa Mohamed, urging him not to cut short his European journey.
Reflecting on his own career, Tarek El-Said admitted that leaving Belgian side Anderlecht to return home was a major regret that cost him a bigger future.
“When I returned from Anderlecht to Egypt, I felt a lot of regret,” he said in a recent interview. “I was the league’s best player and top scorer at the time, and I was one step away from moving to a bigger club. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the professional mentality to continue.”
Tarek El-Said, who played for both Zamalek and Al Ahly, stressed that remaining in Europe is a golden chance for Egyptian players to grow on and off the pitch.
He added a direct message to Nantes forward Mostafa Mohamed: “My advice to Mostafa Mohamed: Don’t return from professional football, and I hope you move to a bigger club in the near future.”
He believes such opportunities shape players in ways local leagues cannot.
