Tapsoba commits future to Bayer Leverkusen despite Premier League interest
Edmond Tapsoba has reportedly ended speculation over his future by agreeing fresh terms with Bayer Leverkusen, despite firm interest from an unnamed Premier League side that had tabled a substantial offer.
The Burkinabé defender, who has become a cornerstone of Leverkusen’s back line since his arrival in 2020, is said to have accepted an improved contract that includes a salary increase, underlining the club’s determination to secure his long-term services.
While the exact duration of the new agreement has not yet been disclosed, the move is viewed internally as a significant statement of intent.
Interest from England had intensified in recent weeks, with reports indicating a €40 million bid from a Premier League club.
However, Leverkusen rejected the approach outright, making clear their reluctance to sanction the departure of one of their most influential defensive figures.
Tapsoba’s importance has been reinforced by his consistency this season, where he has featured in 41 matches across all competitions.
Beyond his defensive stability, he has also contributed offensively, registering five goals and three assists, further highlighting his growing influence within the squad.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the agreement between player and club is already in place, effectively shutting the door on immediate speculation linking him with a move away from Germany.
For Leverkusen, securing Tapsoba’s commitment is a major boost as they continue to build on their recent progress.
