Tanzanian league is very competitive, says Simba SC head coach Steve Barker
Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has described the Tanzanian Premier League as highly competitive as his team aims to close the gap on leaders Young Africans.
Barker’s side returned to winning ways midweek with a 2-1 victory over Singida Black Stars, continuing their push to recover ground lost while competing in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Currently fourth on the league table, Simba trail Young Africans by eight points, with both sides having games in hand. They are next in action on Saturday against TRA United.
“Our opponents are a very good team, the league is very competitive, I found it to be a league that if you don’t play to full potential, and you don’t play according to way that you have prepared, then it does become difficult,” Barker told Pan-Africa Football.
“We have prepared well, our preparations have just been happening over the last two minutes, not just two-day preparations. I think we started to build on the way we want to play.
“We are building in a way that allows us to be a team that can apply pressure on the opposition, and at the same time be a difficult side to play against. So, yeah, preparations have gone well, and we want to come and get a win,” he added.
