Tanzania head coach Miguel Gamondi has reflected on his outfit defeat against Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Taifa Stars fell short to the Super Eagles in the highly competitive clash Wednesday. Goals from Sami Ajayi and Ademola Lookman was enough for Nigeria to secure maximum points.
Speaking after the game, Gamondi admitted the quality gap between the teams proved decisive in the match, where his side succumbed to a defeat.
“I think it was a big learning for us… the quality gap between one team and the other is very big,” he said
Despite the loss, the coach stayed upbeat. “I’m proud because I don’t like to park the bus… we could have got one point,” he added.
Meanwhile, Gamondi has shifted his attention to their second group game against Uganda, labeling it as East Africa derby.
Having succumbed to a defeat in opener, Tanzania will be hoping to secure victory over Uganda to revive their campaign.
