Tanta have submitted a formal complaint to the Egyptian Football Association demanding their contractual share of Aqtai Abdullah’s transfer from ENPPI to Al Ahly.
Al Ahly signed Aqtai from ENPPI before the start of the current season, with Tanta claiming they are entitled to approximately 4.5m Egyptian pounds from the deal.
Tanta treasurer Mohamed Sedki said the club had contacted ENPPI’s administration several times, both officially and informally, to request payment of the money owed to them, but those efforts had failed.
Sedki added that the contract governing Aqtai’s move from Tanta to ENPPI was registered with the Egyptian Football Association on 9 July 2025.
The agreement includes a 15% sell-on clause, according to Tanta, which says it has now lodged its complaint after exhausting all other avenues to secure its share. The source article also states that ENPPI’s administration submitted an official complaint after attempts to obtain its own percentage of the player’s resale, as provided for in the contract.
Aqtai has made three substitute appearances for Al Ahly since joining the club, playing a total of 14 minutes.
The forward suffered an injury last week after reporting pain in his pelvis. He is currently following a physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation programme as he works towards a return to training.
Before moving to Al Ahly, Aqtai played 23 matches for ENPPI, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
He was also included in Egypt’s training camp before the World Cup but was subsequently left out of the Pharaohs’ final squad for the tournament.
Aqtai was Al Ahly’s first signing for the new season.
Al Ahly secured their place in the group stage of the Confederation Cup with a 4-0 victory over Kitara in the second leg of their round-of-32 tie. Hussein El Shahat scored twice, while Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” and Taher Mohamed Taher also found the net.
The result took Al Ahly into the Confederation Cup group stage for the third time in their history. They won the competition in 2013 and were eliminated in the semi-finals in 2015.
It is the club’s fourth appearance in the Confederation Cup. Their previous participation ended in the round of 16 against Angola’s Santos after a penalty shoot-out in the 2008 season.
The match against Kitara also saw Al Ahly reach 700 goals in all African competitions. El Shahat scored the opening goal to bring up the landmark.
Al Ahly will discover the three teams joining them in the group stage when the draw takes place next Wednesday.
