Tanguy Nianzou: Sevillas French-Ivorian defender linked with Lille move
Tanguy Nianzou, the France and Ivory Coast-eligible centre-back currently at Sevilla FC, is being linked with a return to Ligue 1 with Lille interested in a deal for the 24-year-old. The French club are exploring a move as they look to reinforce their defence ahead of the new campaign.
Nianzou has two years left on his contract in Spain, running to 30 June 2027, which means Sevilla are under no pressure to sell and any agreement would likely require a fee. His current market valuation stands at around 1.2 million, a significant drop from his career peak of 12m, a factor that could make him an accessible target for Lille.
The defender joined Sevilla from Bayern Munich in August 2022 for 16m and has since accumulated 45 La Liga appearances, scoring once. He was part of the Sevilla squad that lifted the Europa League in 2022-23, adding to a trophy record that already included league titles in both France with Paris Saint-Germain and Germany with Bayern.
Born in Paris and standing at 1.91m, Nianzou has already played in three of Europes major leagues, featuring in Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and La Liga, as well as making appearances in the Champions League and Europa League. A move to Lille would mark his first return to French domestic football since leaving PSG for Bayern in 2020.
For now, Nianzou remains a Sevilla player, contracted through 2027, with discussions around his future yet to progress to an advanced stage.
