AS Monaco’s talks with FC Barcelona for the signing of Spanish forward of Guinea-Bissau descent Ansu Fati has hit a snap.
According to information gathered from sources, negotiations have stalled in the past week over disagreement on the player’s salary.
Barcelona remain firm in their stance that Fati, whose contract runs until June 2027, is not part of their plans for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.
Under new head coach Hansi Flick, the 22-year-old forward is unlikely to feature after a season in which he made just 298 minutes of appearances across all competitions.
With Barcelona eager to strengthen their attack, negotiations for Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams are said to be well advanced.
Ansu Fati is being encouraged to move on and his representatives have advised him that another year without regular playing time could hinder his development and diminish his market value.
Off the pitch, Fati is currently enjoying his holiday break, having recently travelled to Uruguay to attend the wedding of teammate Ronald Araújo.
Despite the current impasse, both Monaco and Barcelona remain optimistic about reaching an agreement, ideally before the end of June.
AS Monaco remain confident and are preparing next round of talks with FC Barcelona to complete the move for Fati.
