Talaea El Gaish go top after five-goal victory over Suez Petrojet

Tala’ea El Gaish moved to the top of the Egyptian League with a 3-2 victory away to Suez Petrojet in a dramatic five-goal contest on matchday two.

Karim Tarek, Islam Mohareb and Mohamed Atef were on target for the visitors, while Godwin Chika and Mostafa El Badry scored for Suez Petrojet.

Tala’ea El Gaish took control in the 19th minute when Tarek found the net with a powerful strike. The forward’s effort gave the visitors the lead and put them in command of a lively opening period.

They doubled their advantage two minutes before half-time. Mohamed Atef delivered the cross and Islam Mohareb converted it to give Tala’ea El Gaish a 2-0 lead at the interval.

The visitors extended their advantage just three minutes after the restart. Atef produced a strong shot from outside the penalty area in the 48th minute to make it 3-0 and leave Suez Petrojet facing a steep challenge to recover.

Suez Petrojet responded in the 65th minute through Nigerian forward Godwin Chika. A cross travelled through the crowded penalty area without finding a touch, allowing Chika to meet the ball and send a low effort into the net.

Tala’ea El Gaish were reduced to 10 men four minutes later when goalkeeper Omar Radwan was sent off for striking a Suez Petrojet player off the ball.

The dismissal gave the home side renewed hope, and they reduced the deficit again in the 81st minute. Mostafa El Badry’s low shot went into the bottom-left corner to make the score 3-2.

Suez Petrojet pushed forward in search of an equaliser and attempted to claim a point from the match, but Tala’ea El Gaish held on through the closing stages to secure all three points.

The result lifted Tala’ea El Gaish to the top of the table with six points from their opening two matches. It was their second win of the campaign and followed their strong start to the season.

Suez Petrojet, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat. They remain on one point after drawing their opening match against Asyut Petroleum.
